THE YOUNG ARTIST JAZZ SERIES
proudly presents:
The Aaron Blumenthal Quartet

Tuesday, September 28, 2010
8:00pm - One Show Only

Aaron Blumenthal is a southern California native who started on clarinet at 12 years old.  He fell in love with jazz and, when he entered high school, picked up the saxophone in order to be able to play with their jazz band. Since that time he has received multiple awards as a soloist at festivals in the southern California area and at the Reno International Jazz festival.  Aaron has been the first tenor for both the Honors Jazz band and the All-Star Jazz band for the Southern California Band and Orchestra Association.  He has performed with local bands including Moonlight Express, Roger Wood’s Big Noyz, the Irvine Valley College Jazz Band, the Cal State Long Beach Big Band, and the Tom Kubis Big Band. Aaron has taken master classes from Eddie Daniels and Eric Marienthal.  He has also performed with Jazz greats including Tom Kubis, Ron Stout, Lee Secard, and Rusty Higgins (who is his current instructor). Aside from his quartet and high school jazz band, Aaron currently performs with the Goldenwest College Monday Night All Stars (led by Ton Kubis) and the Thursday Night Combo at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in LA (led by Lee Secard).
